Appeals Cases

One of the realities of complex and difficult cases is that one side or the other is likely to file an appeal. This is especially true in Federal cases, where many issues are decided on motions. Being able to advance an appeal if you lose your case due to an incorrect ruling, or defeat an appeal when the other side does not like the result, is an important ability for your attorney to possess.

Appeals work is both intellectually demanding and labor-intensive. The appeals process requires the entire case to be repackaged in the form of an Appendix or Record and then be briefed. Most "briefs" are anything but brief; in fact, they are typically 30-50 pages of dense legal argument about the issues in the case.

At the law firm of Erik D. Frye, P.A., Mr. Frye has been handling appeals for over 20 years. These include both Maryland and Federal appeals. Some of the cases have resulted in important or even groundbreaking decisions.
